Energising Every Move
At Defining Motion, we don’t just train movement — We study its physics, design for its complexity, and build tools grounded in fundamental movement principles.
Movement doesn’t follow straight lines. It moves by changing shape—driven by pressure gradients, directional energy flow, and relative Motion across the system.
Tools That Adapt to How You Move
Defining Motion creates tools that enhance the body’s ability to respond and reorganise under changing conditions. Rather than forcing change, our products facilitate access to movement options that may have been lost through compensation, fatigue, or restriction. We support intelligent movement—tools that guide without interference, allowing the system to adapt more efficiently rather than work harder.
Built for Energy Flow and Efficiency
Movement is more than Motion—it’s the efficient energy transmission through elastic recoil, shape timing, and coordinated transitions. Defining Motion designs tools to support this propagation, helping the body conserve effort, store energy, and release it in the right direction at the right time. Our products respect the body’s natural capacity for recoil and reorganisation, reducing wasted effort and restoring access to positions that improve leverage, control, and power. Efficiency isn’t achieved by adding more force—but by optimising how force is stored, redirected, and released.
Beyond Outdated Models
Most tools in the industry still follow outdated assumptions—levers, stretches, and compression applied without context.
Defining Motion takes a different path:
- Rooted in structure
- Shaped by adaptability
- Designed to restore coherence
Because when the body is organised, movement becomes efficient, responsive, and effortless. Whether you’re a therapist, fitness enthusiast, or athlete, our products help you move with more clarity, more purpose, and less compromise.
This isn’t about doing more. It’s about reconnecting with what your system already knows how to do.
Rooted in Principle
Defining Motion’s approach is influenced by modern frameworks like Bill Hartman’s UHPC model, which grounds each design on principles of structural adaptability, pressure gradient dynamics, and individual movement potential.
About the Founder
Defining Motion was founded by a movement specialist with over 20 years of experience in fitness, rehabilitation, and manual therapy. His approach was shaped by navigating spinal surgery, chronic pain, and the limits of conventional thinking. Driven by principle-based learning, he studied advanced models like UHPC to understand better how the body organises itself under stress and demand. That same thinking now shapes every Defining Motion product—from the inside out.
